Dickey Does Baja
 This
month, road racer Richard Dickey has turned his attention toward his new
found interest in desert racing. With his introduction to the 40th
Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 last year, Dickey has continued his effort to include
the 40th Tecate SCORE Baja 500 this month and the Baja 1000 again
this November.
The effort is made
possible by Barbara Terry Racing and a host of major sponsors to include
NAPA Filters, Goodyear, eBay Motors, and Shell Oil. “This is a monumental
task,” explained Dickey. “Barbara has spent uncountable hours to put this
program together. She and our team leader Emory Helms are tireless.”
Dickey Racing will assist
with the help of car chief DJ Parrish, who will act as the main wrench on
the buggy, while long time Comanche Peak rallyist and associate Ian Thomson
will head up communication electronics and chase truck operations. Dickey
will be responsible for course logistics, and will co-drive with Terry and
Helms. He will be driving a Score Lite/Class 12 Bunderson buggy in the five
hundred mile epoch and is slated to complete the entire distance in the
vehicle while alternating as driver and navigator throughout the event.
GPS Protected, a Florida
based vehicle tracking firm, will also support the BT Racing operation and
will supply tracking information to speedtv.com for the purpose of online
tracking along with an in-car camera for live feeds to the web page, when
reception permits. The actual race starts on Saturday May 31st
at 6:30 AM PST, but speedtv.com will begin Barbara Terry coverage on May 20th.
