Dickey Wraps Up 2008 Divisional Points Championship

Granbury, Texas road racer Richard Dickey has an early season claim to Sports Car Club of America’s Southwest Divisional Points Championship.  The accomplished veteran has amassed six wins in six events and is numerically undefeatable for the remainder of the season. 

Dickey has been driving the Kelly Racing Enterprises Mazda RX-8 for two seasons now and has not only been victorious but exceptionally fast.  He has taken track records at Texas World Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and Motorsport Ranch Houston. 

Car owner, Mike Kelly, was especially elated, but is also continuing his own effort to win the SCCA Regional Points Championship.  “This is a great step toward the National Championship,” expressed Kelly.  “Richard has the divisional points wrapped up and now it’s my job to go for the regional points.”

The National Championship is determined by pitting the top three divisional point finishers from each of nine geographic divisions in a winner takes all championship race at Topeka, Kansas in October.  Dickey Racing plans to take the Kelly Racing RX-8 to the double national race weekend at the Topeka in August as a tune-up for the October finale.
